Leg Extension Machine
The leg extension machine sees some serious use in the gym, more than a lot of other machines. There is a good reason for this. It is a monster for building up your quads and can replace the likes of squats in your workout.
Yes, that did say quads. The leg extension machine is built for quad related targeting, that’s true. However, there are a few very effective variations you can perform with it to target the glutes, instead. Pelvis thrusts, for example, are a great way to use a leg extension machine for your glutes instead of your quads.
If you’re aiming for a butt, you’re going to need to work out quads as well. Having a leg extension machine gives you the versatility of being able to target both.
These guys are relatively cheap. You can pick up a unit for around $100 bucks. Although, as with most gym equipment, you can splash more cash for better gear.
The leg press is a monster in the gym equipment world. Not only intimidating by design, but it tends to be used more by males in their leg workouts. That doesn’t mean that you can’t use it to tone up your butt, though.
This male-dominated image makes the leg press fairly underappreciated in the glute building world. Despite this, we’re going to be using it for exactly that.
The leg press is uncannily versatile in the fact that you can target different muscles based on your feet placement. For example, keeping them low is going to have you lifting with your quads. However, if you raise your legs with a wider stance, your glutes and hamstrings are going to do the work.
It’s a machine that allows you to work the muscle without the heart raising cardio associated with some other exercises. You get to lie on your back and focus solely on pushing that weight.
The leg press is a bit more of a specialty than other gym machines, meaning it’s going to cost you a pretty penny. Around $1000 dollars worth of pennies, more specifically. This is the standard price for a true leg extension machine. It’s not exactly affordable, but the versatility of the machine more than makes up for it.

Your abductor muscles are muscles that move something away from the body. Typically, these are found in your hips. So naturally, the abductor machine is for training those muscles.
However, the specific exercise that the machine caters to is also going to work for your glutes. You can do this exercise without the machine, but you’re not going to see the same results.
The exercise involves sitting with your thighs pressed against the inside of two pads. These pads are connected to the machine’s weights. From here, you bring your legs out and away from your body.
Like most leg exercises, this can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing, so make sure you come prepared.
There are also abductor spring (pictured) which gives you an easy workout and costs a whole lot less.
An abductor machine is seriously specialist, even more than a leg press. You’re going to struggle to find one for your home gym. However, there are variants of the machine that can cost as little as $100 dollars. Or you can dish out over a grand for a regular one; it’s up to you.
Hack Squat Machine
We’re going back to old reliable with this entry. Squats are the cornerstone of every good glutes workout regimen. If you want a butt, you squat. It’s that simple.
That being said, squats are hard, especially when you start throwing extra weight into the mix. That’s why the hack squat machine was invented. It is going to help you with doing your squats while taking a little bit of the effort out of it.
This isn’t a bad thing, though, as it’s going to allow you to focus on those specific leg muscles more. Like with regular squats, you’re targeting your quads, glutes, and hamstrings. This means your getting the full trifecta of butt workout muscles.
There isn’t a machine on this list that is going to yield you the same results as the hack squat is. Unfortunately, the price reflects that. Once again, we’re looking at specialist equipment. In other words, another four-digit price tag.
This can be a lot to dish out for an exercise that you can do manually with a barbell. So, invest in the rest of your gym first before splashing out on this machine.
We all know the stair stepper, and we all hate the stair stepper. That’s because this machine is all about your cardio. You might think that this dismisses it from being useful for building glutes. You would be wrong.
On top of squats, step-ups are one of the most impactful exercises you can do for glute growth. The stair stepper is an automatic step-up machine, so you can see how it works out.
The obvious benefit to the stair stepper over other glute machines is the cardio element. If you really want to target your glutes, and you need cardio in your workout, this makes a great fit.
As you might expect by now, this machine comes with the big bucks price tag. You’re looking upwards of two grand for this one. Although for the glutes and cardio benefit it’s giving you, it might just be worth the cash.
